April 2015

April on the Trinity campus means two things: fall registration and thoughts of the end of the school year. Registration is April 13-28. You should go onto TigerPaws and find out when your registration times is at. Then you should contact your advisor and set up an appointment to discuss your fall schedule. Keep in mind that you cannot register until your advisor has approved you! Come to this meeting prepared – that generally means you have some ideas about what classes you’d like to take and you have thought about some questions where you have concerns or are not clear about requirements. You should all (hopefully!) be MORE>>

April is crunch month for the semester and for your summer ideas. Don’t put off completing papers, projects and studying, and lock down those jobs, internships or summer school plans. Get ahead of the deadlines, and leave some time for a spring distraction and a break from the grind, because… April means it’s FIESTA SAN ANTONIO time, April 16-26. There are too many events to list, so check out the Fiesta Website for details. April is also National sexual assault awareness month; find Trinity policy information and resources here. But most important: Protect & respect others; take care of yourself and those around you.

Get What You Pay For: The Education and the Network

I’m sure you’ve heard at one time or another that it’s not what you know, it’s who you know that really matters. Actually, both understanding concepts and knowing people are necessary in order to succeed. While you may be busy with exams, sporting events, or just hanging out at this point in the semester, I strongly encourage you to make time to get advice from Trinity alumni who are already employed in areas in which you are interested.

You can do this through TRINITYCONNECT – an online resource brought to you by Career Services and Alumni Relations. Use your T-mail address to access the system and to schedule a conversation today. Take advantage of a professional network that has volunteered to share insight and experience with you. Let me know if you need assistance or have any questions.

March 2015

March 2015 has arrived and we are nearing mid-semester. That means a lot of important dates and events are heading your way. Let’s deal with the critical deadlines of March. You are undoubtedly taking or will soon be taking exams and writing papers and this is all so that your professors can begin to assess your performance and provide you with guidance. A very useful part of that guidance is mid-term grades, which are reported for students at-risk in each class. At-risk means on the way towards getting a grade of D or F. If you receive a mid-term report, you need to quickly think about how you can better your grade – what can you change? Answering this question more >>

March means that spring is in full bloom in San Antonio and, of course, Spring Break. If you’re planning to travel, particularly to a popular college spring break location or covering any distance over the break, please have a good plan and a reasonable schedule to get there and RETURN SAFELY!  Our March 2014 newsletter included some spring break tips that I hope you’ll review from this link.

You’re also getting close to marking the halfway point at Trinity.  To celebrate this accomplishment the Student Ambassadors and Trinity Alumni will be serving ice cream floats and sundaes to the Class of 2017 Northrup Lobby on Wednesday, March 25 from 6 – 7 p.m.
