November 2013

Hard to believe but your first semester is more than halfway finished! I am sure that you too feel that the semester has gone by very fast. In a few weeks you will be heading home for the Thanksgiving holiday and the shortly after your return to campus, we will be starting final exams.

It is not too soon to start thinking about preparing for the end of the semester. Final exams are a stressful time for everyone! A bit of preparing before you reach finals week can be most helpful. The main thing to do is not panic! There is still ample time to get yourself prepared and to do great on these tests. Here are a few things to do over the next couple of weeks before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Dr. Steven Bachrach
Class Marshal
This is the month that things begin to even out; by now you’ve mastered the balancing act between academics, recreation and your social life, right?!  Well… we hope things are rolling along smoothly for you, but if you need help don’t hesitate to seek assistance through your professors, your mentors, the ResLife staff and all of the rest of Trinity team here to support you, including us. November is also a month to take time to give thanks for all that we have. If you’re looking for a service opportunity, the Thanksgiving season is a busy time for organizations like the San Antonio Food Bank. Look for more information posted around campus for ways to take a break from your academic demands and use a little of your free time to assist local organizations to help others.  more>>

You and Your High School Boy/Girlfriend
Many first years arrive at Trinity involved in a long-distance relationship with someone who is attending another university or still in high school.  If you and your boy/girlfriend are trying to make it work over the miles, check out “10 Tips for Long Distance Relationships.”  While some couples can make it work long distance, others cannot.  And the breakup can be tough.  If you’re dealing with a breakup (or suspect you will be), check out this advice from the counseling center at Villanova University.  To learn more about how Trinity’s counseling center can help, visit our website

Please consider purchasing a Tiger Taxi debit card (suggested amount - $25). This can't be spent on other things, so students don't have to worry about ever being stranded. In addition, students who may not want to spend their discretionary money on a cab ride won't have to choose if they have a card. This can help for emergency rides and to avoid potentially dangerous or awkward situations. Click here.
