So you’ve probably had a
test or two and turned in a paper, and your thoughts might have turned to
grades. Every class will likely be graded differently – some will have only
exams, some might be graded solely on a few papers, some might have a component
of the grade based on class participation. Your professors will have defined
just how the class will be graded in their syllabus. Be sure to read and
understand just how your grade will be determined. Make sure to meet all of the
deadlines. Pay attention to whether work can be done with others, and be
conscious of the Academic Honor Code Policy at all times. more>>

Homesick or Lonely?
If you are one of the many first-years having some
difficulty making connections at Trinity, here are some tips:
- Check
out the advice from “Making New Friends in
College.”
- Do volunteer work or participate in campus organizations where you will meet
others. Check out the hyperlinks to discover your many options. You
can also talk with someone in the office of Campus & Community
Involvement to help you identify options that may be a
good fit for you.
- It’s
normal to feel shy when meeting new people, but with practice you will be
more relaxed. Check out this resource, “Making Conversation”.
- Remember
that lasting friendships develop gradually. There’s no pressure to
make a best friend or to rush into intimacies.
If your homesickness or loneliness is
so intense that you contemplate going home or not returning next semester, why
don’t you talk with one of us friendly counselors at Counseling Services (215 Coates, 210-999-7411).
