RLC October

Hello Class of 2017!

The sophomore year is one of exploration and some serious decision making, especially regarding a major. If you're still not sure what major to pick, I encourage you to consider attending Major Meals.

The Major Meals program gives you the opportunity to speak with faculty, alumni, and current students from a variety of majors over a free meal and dessert, all provided by Res Life. Be on the lookout for an invitation with more details!

This month, I also want to remind you of the B-Low Optimal program. This year, like last year, you are able to opt into this program if you are drinking to the Optimal Buzz. If you missed the presentations on the Optimal Buzz last fall or would like a refresher, you'll find a description of this strategy for drinking here. Under this program, students approached about violating the alcohol policy could volunteer to have a breathalyzer reading administered by Residential Life staff. If the reading was within or below the optimal buzz range of .06, then no judicial action would be taken or, for those with a low level reading, a pre-warning would be issued. So, if you are confronted for a potential violation involving consumption of any alcohol in the sophomore residence halls, and you think you have been drinking responsibly - or not at all, simply ask the Residential Life staff to do a reading. Though underage drinking is a violation of law, and thus policy, this program allows the staff to focus on excessive drinking, which is what often creates problems for students.

Check back in next month for information about studying abroad!
