What’s
one big difference that you’ll notice between last year and this year?
Remember, “in September, savvy sophomores settle down and saddle up.” Whew, try to say that 10 times fast! (or, if you’re Dean of Students, just try it
once v-e-r-y… s-l-o-w-l-y…) So here’s
the deal: You’re no longer anxious about academics; dormitory living is a
familiar routine; San Antonio feels like home; and you’ve all but mastered time management. So maybe it’s time to broaden your
activities, give back a little more, and, while you’re at it, build your resume
for the future. How? VOLUNTEER!!
Learn about opportunities during Volunteer Awareness Week, September
2-5. The week involves the TUVAC Extravaganza with all TUVAC programs
recruiting volunteers for the year. A Super Nacho Hour will feature the
Volunteer Fair where over 20 area non-profits will be present to recruit. The
week concludes on Friday with excursions to a Habitat for Humanity build and
volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank. Click here for a list of all
events. Show up and sign up!
We
had a great time meeting a few more of you in August. Thanks for the fun discussions; we’re very
envious of your summer activities! We
also enjoyed sitting down with your RA’s in August, learning more about SoCol
and plans for fall & spring activities.
Ask your RA’s about Camp Collins. And when you see us on campus, stop us,
introduce yourselves, and let us know what’s going on in the lives of the Class
of 2017 (and what you’ve volunteered
for)!
